Valentine's day is quite a well-known holiday. It's a chance to show your loved ones how much you care for them through gifts or hangouts. On the runway there are many different clothing pieces that scream out valentine's day. Through looking at Vogue's valentine fashion timeline, I began to see many modern day looks have the inspiration of vintage fashion looks. The dresses had similar concepts within them to show this global holiday. The fashion runway is the place where inspiration is seen in almost every article so below are 6 different dresses, either being the inspiration or inspired by a creation.
1. Say Love Out Loud!

"Yves Saint Laurent’s “Love Me Forever Or Never Dress,” fall 1970" "Valentino Haute Couture, spring 2015"
Say Love Out Loud! These two dresses use the idea of actual words being embroidered within the dress. It's quite a creative way to emphasize the love in valentine's day! The first dress is from a collection designed in the 1970s while the second dress (colored) is from a collection from 2015. As you can see the first piece is what inspired the second modern piece. It has the word 'love' embroidered while the 2nd dress has 'amor' (love).
2. Jump Into The Love

"Schiaparelli Couture, spring 2015"
"Viktor & Rolf, spring 2002"
Now we are jumping into the jumpsuits of the 20th century. These looks are quite daring from the others. Instead of using the typical reds, and pinks of valentine's day it using a subtle white to emphasize the heart printed fabric. The first look, 2002, involves a full jumpsuit with ashore heart fabric for the top with cotton loose fitted bottoms. The second look, 2015, (my favorite) is designed as a two piece jumpsuit with a fitted crop top and loose fitted high waisted pants. As seen, the first look was the inspiration look & color of the second look.
3. Reds Pinks Flowers !

"Backstage at Lanvin, fall 2013"
"Christian Lacroix, 1987"
Flowers blooming everywhere! These bubble dresses capture the attention of one's view because of the bright colors. They both play with the traditional view of valentine's day with pink, red, and flowers. The first look was from a collection made in the 1987 and it's made to be very playful. The heartland neckline compliments the peplum bottom skirt & the heart formed by flowers. The second look was from a collection created in 2013 and had the same playful vibe with it. It also has the bubbly bottom as the first dressed had in 1987.
